Quality Built® Introduces Electronic Construction Project Task Tracking for Builders

QB Builder Link™ Utilizes Internet and Pocket PC Technology to Bring Quality Assurance Tracking Solution for Builders in the Field

Media Kit :

Orlando, Fla., Jan. 11, 2006 — (International Builders’ Show) -Quality Built, the leader in quality assurance for the construction industry, today announced QB Builder Link 2.0, a construction project solution that tracks both quality assurance and related schedule tasks. The software combines Internet and handheld computer technology, recording actual time data for easy, accurate documentation.

QB Builder Link gives site project managers, superintendents and third-party trades the ability to track construction project tasks from a single, user-friendly platform. Pocket PC functionality enables users to make notes, take photos and upload project data. Certain Pocket PC devices also offer the option to make phone calls and send and receive emails.

“Builders large and small are looking for simple tools to help them track construction easily and improve quality. We are providing them with this simple tool, whether they build 10 homes or 1,000 homes per year.” said Stan Luhr, founder and CEO of Quality Built.

Product Features
QB Builder Link allows builders to track construction project tasks in conjunction with the Quality Built Quality Assurance Site Observations process. Builders can track construction progress on single and multiple projects. Product features include:
  • Schedule Importing: Project schedules can be imported into QB Builder Link software, where they are linked to quality checkpoints visible on the hand-held computer device. Third-party experts, such as soil engineers and window testing companies, can supply Quality Built with specific, qualitative checklists, and they will be linked to the provided task schedule of the builder.
  • Task Tracking: Builders can view scheduled start and completion dates and can record the actual tasks completed in real time. Future, current and past due tasks show up as simple “red-light green-light” icons. Upon execution of tasks, users verify compliance and take digital photographs, which are electronically linked to the data and synchronized back to Quality Built’s main servers for archiving.
  • Quality Assurance Site Observations Tracking: Project tasks are linked to Quality Built’s patent-pending Checkpoint database, enabling superintendents to combine tracking of a project’s construction progress with a quality assurance self-assessment process. Users can also review and close out Open Items (i.e., unacceptable, correction-required items) and obtain a trade’s sign-off using an electronic signature. Photos, location, task reports, and assignment of unacceptable conditions allow the builder to coordinate with the responsible trade. This feature is perfect for builders who want to have specific tasks documented, such as verifying company ‘best practices’, daily tasks or special testing information.
  • Builder Reports: Builders can access sophisticated reports housed on the Quality Built Information Network (QBIN) to help track the success of their quality assurance efforts, approve photos and measure project performance in several ways. Open Item emails electronically alert users of a construction problem, such as torn building paper or a bowed stud.
  • Unique Home Identification: Quality Built’s exclusive Home I.D.™ documentation provides bar-coded plastic tags installed in each home to accurately identify the property. This patent-pending system creates a unique “license plate” of the home from the very beginning, so users with electronic PDA devices need only key in the 8 digit code to access each home’s data. Home I.D. eliminates incorrect lot numbers and changing address descriptions from corrupting important construction documentation.

Luhr is pleased that builders large and small appreciate QB Builder Link’s simplicity, its ability to eliminate paperwork and its easy integration with existing software scheduling programs. “Nobody likes paperwork, especially busy superintendents trying to control the chaos of a jobsite”, Luhr said. “Builder Link improves communication without any paperwork, faxes or phone calls. It’s all electronic and information is delivered at the speed of the Internet.”

User Requirements
QB Builder Link requires builders to have a high-speed Internet connection and a Web browser to connect to the Quality Built Information Network. Additional information on QB Builder Link can be obtained by calling 800-547-5125.
