Melia Homes - Laurel Cove - Honored to be Nominated for the 2017 Quality Built Technical Plan Review - Single-Family Award

Fort Lauderdale, FL (Feb. 08, 2018) – Melia Homes is a California builder that was established in 2009. They have a hands-on approach to quality craftsmanship and research-driven design. So much, that they are committed to having third-party quality assurance inspections performed on several stages of the construction process.

Melia Homes takes pride in their work and understands that well thought-out and comprehensive architectural design plans are crucial to the success of a building structure. This is why they partnered with Quality Built (QB), a national third-party QA inspection company to perform a Technical Plan ReviewTM (TPR) on their Laurel Cove community located in Encinitas, CA. Laurel Cove consists of nine luxury homes located near Swami’s and Moonlight Beach, highly-rated schools and downtown Encinitas.

On January 9, 2018, it was announced that Melia Homes’ Laurel Cove community was nominated for the 2017 Quality Built TPR - Single-Family Award. It is an honor to be nominated for this award, as QB performed TPRs on single-family homes from various builders all across the United States in 2017. Of all of the TPRs performed in 2017, the Laurel Cove project stood out to have some of the lowest percentage of items that needed correction in comparison to all other single-family projects observed.

The Value of a Technical Plan Review

Elimination of construction risk can begin with the plans. A TPR of construction documents for recurring “hot spots”, constructability and performance issues can save a builder from a major disaster. In their TPRs, Quality Built provides their clients with a comprehensive analysis of their project documents; looking for errors, completeness of specifications and conflicting and/or missing details. Although architectural firms can be extremely talented and knowledgeable on what they do, there is always room for improvement, and a peer review can help address items that could be improved upon.
